How does lavender lotion treat minor burns?
This herb is believed to hold antiseptic as well as anti-inflammatory (reduces inflammation) properties which makes it a great natural care for minor burns.
A study published on Hindawi compared the results of many wound healing treatments. The study applied these treatments on laboratory rats and the results suggested that wounds closed up quicker in TENS and lavender oil groups than the other groups. This suggests that the herb has an accelerating effect on wound healing.
Its known to hold antibacterial, antifungal, sedative, antidepressant and antimicrobial effects which have rendered it worthy of being a minor burn treatment. These effects promote that lavender does not cause infection when directly implemented on burned skin, helps accelerate the contraction of a burned area, and it was also suggested that lavender has the ability to reduce scar tissue.
All of this to say, it’s a great fit for simple skin care after a minor burn. Lavender is mainly used for relieving and soothing purposes. From being useful to treating anxiety to being able to treat minor burns, it’s safe to assume that lavender is a super plant for its many properties.
Having trouble sleeping after a skin burn?

Whether your injuries are keeping you up or your personal problems are, lavender is the soothing way to go.
To use it for sleep you can simply use a lavender lotion instead of an essential or a concentrate and apply it all over your body. This will immediately start soothing you, fixing your insomnia problems.
Which lavender to choose?
Some of you might have seen this subtitle and wondered; What? There’s different types of lavender?
Well yes there is and in this section we’ll find the right fit for you.
- Lavender Bulgarian
- French Lavender
- Spike Lavender
- Greek Lavender
Let’s start with Lavender Bulgarian, the traditional lavender. It’s rich in both Linalool and Linalyl acetate, two known components for therapeutic properties. It’s one of the most gentle of its kind and is mainly used for calming, headache relieving, anti-inflammatory, sedative and skin healing. Its scent is also sought out for perfumery. This one would be the best fit for those simply looking for therapeutic properties and a soothing treatment.
French Lavender is much like the Lavender Bulgerian, they hold many of the same benefits. Where they differ is that French Lavender has a higher Linalyl acetate content and less Linalool which makes the French Lavender aggressive in inflammation and pain relieving treatment. This would be a good fit for those looking for more aggressive therapeutic properties.
Spike Lavender is rich in other content and focuses more on helping to relieve coughs, clear congestion and promote easy breathing. It’s also used for stress relieving, pain reducing and headache helping purposes. This one is a combination of traditional lavender and the camphoraceous aroma of Eucalyptus.
Finally, Greek Lavender. This one has been used for many purposes such as perfumery, cooking, and bathing for centuries (Since the Grecian Era). The Greek Lavender has the highest Linal acetate content making it a great choice for soothing, beauty and relaxation treatments. This one may be the best fit for those who are looking for the therapeutic properties of the traditional Lavender but with more of an ancient dreamy twist to it.
Of course there are more Lavenders to choose from but these are 4 simple options that may fit your preferences.
Apply lavender on wound/burn
Burns, inflammation, cuts and other types of minor wounds can be treated with lavender oil. A study published on NCBI confirmed that lavender promotes the healing of skin tissue.
There are several ways to apply lavender on a wound depending on if it’s a lotion or simply an essential oil form. For lotion you can simply apply it on the area of the burn. A common way for the essential oil form is to mix 3-4 drops of lavender oil with coconut or tamanu oil. Apply the mixture on the area of the wound with a cotton ball or anything similar.
Other health benefits of lavender oil
Lavender as you may know by now, is believed to have many health benefits.
Around 12% of the U.S population suffers from migraines and women are more likely to experience this condition than men. A study published on NCBI suggests that the inhalation of lavender oil could reduce migraine pain. It helps reduce the severity of the subject’s migraines. If you ever feel a migraine again just grab a lavender essential oil and apply a couple of drops on top of the upper lip. You could also use the lavender lotion which has a lower level of concentration.
Lavender also helps reduce depression and anxiety symptoms when it’s taken in conjunction with regular prescribed medications. The way it works is that the aroma can take out nervous exhaustion and agitation while increasing mental activity.
I hope this was helpful to you in more than one way. A sunburn is a nasty thing to deal with especially when you don’t know that lavender lotion is a simple solution.
